It’s natural to want what you can’t get. The desire for the unattainable is a large part of Pappy Van Winkle’s mystique. Although it’s been years since I last tasted Pappy, the rare, expensive bourbon that inspires rabid devotion, I remember it being remarkably balanced, smooth and complex. It was a beautiful, elegant whiskey. And I’d gladly welcome the chance to have a dram of Pappy at just about any time...
